Author Guidelines

  1. Manuscripts submitted to the Nusantara Sociological Forum (NSF) must be original works, not under review for other journals, and unpublished.
  2. Manuscripts can be written in standard Indonesian, adhering to grammatical rules, or in academic English.
  3. Authors must use the provided journal template and submit their manuscripts through the Online Submission (OJS) system.

    Manuscript Structure

Each article must be structured according to the following sequence and requirements:

    1. The title must be concise, clear, and reflect the content of the manuscript. It should contain a maximum of 15 words. Avoid the use of uncommon abbreviations.
    2. Author Names and Affiliations: Include the author's full name (without academic title), institutional affiliation (study program, faculty, university, country), and email address for correspondence purposes.
    3. Abstract and Keywords

    ·         The abstract should be written in two languages (English and Indonesian) and should be 150–250 words, in a single paragraph. This section contains a brief background, objectives, research methods, and a summary of the results. Use precise terminology as a standard for writing (for example, always use the term "local community" to refer to social entities at the basic level).

    ·         Keywords consist of 3-5 main concepts.

    1. Introduction: Include the background of the problem, a review of previous literature (the state of the art) as a basis for stating scientific novelty, and the research objectives. Describe the phenomenon specifically and avoid overly broad generalisations.
    1. Methods: Explain the type of research, approach, research location, data collection techniques, and data analysis procedures. Include a strong justification for choosing a specific area (e.g., Waetele Village in Ogan Ilir Regency). If you use analysis software, state the version and describe the coding procedures, matrix formation, or co-occurrence model applied.
    1. Results

    ·         Present empirical data findings systematically without cluttering them with in-depth theoretical interpretations.

    ·         If using visualisations, explain their hierarchy descriptively and explicitly (for example, clearly state that Local Knowledge and Adaptation are the main themes, while the others are sub-codes).

    ·         Visual Requirements: Limit the number of figures to a maximum of 8 per manuscript to maintain sharp and efficient analysis. Table titles are placed above the table, while figure titles are placed below the figure.

    1. Discussion: Connect empirical findings in the field to relevant sociological concepts or theories. The discussion must be precisely focused on the main unit of analysis (for example, if studying agricultural dynamics, ensure the manuscript focuses strictly on workers in the agricultural sector, not shifting to other irrelevant entities).
    1. Conclusion: Compile a comprehensive synthesis of the results and discussion that directly addresses the research question. Please send the text you wish to edit. I will then transcribe it in a full paragraph without bullet points or numbering.
    1. Research Limitations: Describe any limitations recognized during the study, including those related to methodological limitations, participant availability, and the scope of data collection.
    1. Research Recommendations: Provide concrete, focused, and applicable recommendations for further sociological research based on the findings and weaknesses of this study.
    1. Acknowledgements: Express your appreciation to institutions (such as the Ministry of Education and Technology, the National Research and Innovation Agency) or individuals (informants, community leaders, etc.) who have contributed technically and morally to the smooth running of the research and publication.
    1. Funding: Transparently list the entity that funded this study (e.g., the Ministry of Education and Technology, the National Agency for Research and Innovation, or the LPDP). Include a valid funding collaboration contract number for administrative accountability. If the research was self-funded, state this as well.
    1. Author Contributions: Detail the specific roles of each co-author (e.g., conceptualisation, data curation, writing the original draft, reviewing, and editing the manuscript).
    1. Conflict of Interest: State in writing that this research was conducted without potential conflicts of interest, both commercial and financial.
    1. Ethics Statement and Approval
    1. Data Availability: Confirm that raw data (such as transcripts and coding matrices) are not freely distributed. Data access is required through direct email correspondence, provided there is a sound academic justification and that informants' privacy restrictions are respected.
    1. Bibliography

    ·         Use the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition style.

    ·         Use of a reference management application (Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote) is mandatory.

    ·         Proportionally, primary literature (scientific journals published in the last 5 years) must make up at least 80% of the total references.
